Rules & Guidelines

  • Entries must follow all Rules and Guidelines to be eligible for consideration.
  • All films should be 10 minutes or less including credits.
  • Films should be submitted on Digital Betacam, Betacam-SP, DV-Cam or Mini-DV videotape.
  • Completed films must arrive no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, September 30th, 2005. If you wish to have your tape returned to you, include a self addressed stamped envelope with your entry (correct postage required).
  • While the festival is not genre-specific, it IS a Halloween film festival. Therefore, films should in some way reflect the spirit (or spirits) of Halloween, i.e. Horror, Black Comedy, Fantasy, Documentary, and the Generally Dark, etc.
  • We're not prudes, but keep it within the bounds of commonly accepted behavior. If your sole intention is to shock the audience and make a few people vomit, chances are you'll be rejected. No pornography.
  • You must own or have written permission to use all elements in your film, e.g., music.
  • You will retain all copyright ownership of your film and are merely granting us a non-exclusive license to use it as described in the Entry Form.
  • Our opinion of your film will have no bearing on whether or not is screened at the festival. However, it should be of at least reasonably good technical quality. In other words, if the sound is so bad we can't understand what anyone is saying -- unless that's obviously your intention -- your film will likely be rejected.
  • The Festival organizers reserve the right to reject any film for any reason. Should we do so, your entry fee will be returned.
